Activa hosiery can help relieve symptoms such as tired, aching legs and itchy, irritated skin. Activa hosiery is a type of compression hosiery. Compression hosiery gently squeezes the legs to improve blood flow. Compression hsosiery has also been clinically proven to reduce the recurrence of leg ulcers. It is important that you wear your Activa hosiery , ideally, every day if you have been advised to wear it. Modern compression hosiery uses lightweight, comfortable yarns, virtually impossible to tell apart from regular hosiery. If your hosiery is uncomfortable or hard to put on contact your doctor or nurse. The correct fit and knowing how to put them on easily is important. Activa hosiery is latex free. Is this product for me? Activa compression hosiery could be ideal for you if you suffer from any of the following symptons: Tired, aching legs, especially at the end of the day Reddish/brown staining above the ankle Sores that appear within the stained skin Itchy patches above the ankle Wounds or knocks that are slow to heal Visible and painful varicose veins Throbbing and/or swollen legs Compression hosiery is not suitable for you if you are diabetic, have arterial disease or congestive cardiac failure. If in any doubt speak to your nurse or doctor Putting my hosiery on Compression hosiery needs to fit snugly in order to push blood upwards towards the heart. Healthy circulation keeps skin in good condition and stops swelling, varicose veins worsening or sores on the leg coming back. There is a knack to applying compression hosiery. Watch the Activa self fitting video to watch the easiest ways of applying your hosiery. If you still need an extra bit of help the ActiGlide application aid may help you. Thigh length hosiery in the Activa British Standard needs to be held up with a suspender belt or, body adhesive such as Venosan Coltex adhesive. Venosan Coltex can be purchased on line. There is a suspender belt available on prescription which is suitable for men and women. Replacing hosiery Compression hosiery is recommended for 100 washes, or approximately 3 months’ wear.
